The Bewicke Arms, Hallaton
This beautiful thatched Inn 0verlooks the lovely green and 17thc butter cross, of Hallaton village which is steeped in history, intrigue and tradition. With more Roman coins found for the BBC to take an interest and produce a programme about - it makes for a timely re-opening of this well known Inn.
Having recently taken over The Bewicke Arms, award winning publicans and successful pub owners of two previous establishments, Dick Cross and wife Alison, are intent on providing locals and visitors alike, a taste of what a well run pub, with friendly service, excellent food, guest ales and good conversation is all about.
Keeping it in the family and adding their own skills and personalities are sons Andy and Sam. Sam, a professional Chef in his own right, is responsible for creating the mouth watering dishes available, a daily offerings board keeps the 'fresh' fresh, using the wealth of produce available on their own doorstep.
Andy can be found behind the bar, serving the customers, ensuring everyone has what they want, providing terrific guest beers and a well stocked bar. He knows a thing or two about a good pint and good bar service, making sure his customers are happy, whilst Dick is hands on in all departments and enjoys nothing more than mixing with thecustomers
It's all about ‘freshness and taste’, as can be found in the adjoining Tea Rooms and gift shop, serving rich home-made scones with REAL cream and Jam, served in little pots (not a horrible, plastic wrapped butter or jam in sight) an abundance of REAL home-made cakes, and daily specials.
This is a real country pub, all cosy open fires, Oak beams, soft leather sofa's and armchairs, which all adds up to a lovely 'feel good' experience.
You want a room to stay longer? No problem, there are three self contained rooms with en-suite, all clean and sparkling and comfortable, and in what was the old barn.
So, whatever your needs, either a cream tea, the delights of the pub or a room to stay - you can have it all at:
