It's all happening at the Forge Inn

Following my recent visit to The Forge Inn, Glenfield, I noticed how much it has changed over the years. You may remember that the Forge was once a Berni Inn but after a recent £250,000 investment, the Forge has received a completely new look including a great Al Fresco eating and music area. With its beautiful modern decor and fresh new look, it is inviting, warm and has a great cosy feel to it.

Sam Hagger is the Landlord of the Forge and it is Sam and his team who are responsible for preparing amazing dishes. They are accredited by the Assured Food Standards agency for only serving Red Tractor Beef, Pork, Turkey, Lamb & Milk. These all carry the red tractor mark.

The menu changes with the seasons to ensure they are only using produce in season (also helps with the food miles which is better for the environment). There are lots of mouth watering choices so I opted for Sausage and mash and boy, was it a good choice. Delicious sausages (Pork & Ale) which were made using fresh outdoor reared pork from Dingley Dell Farm (which is RSPCA and freedom food assured), mash so smooth and creamy, the meanest onions I’ve tasted in a long time and gravy almost better than my mum makes which is a mean feat by my standards!

If it’s a Sunday lunch you’re after then there's no better way to while away your Sunday afternoon than by munching lazily through one of Sam’s thoroughly indulgent roasts. Or, why not try the fabulous Mid-Week Special of 2 delicious courses from the main menu for only £10.95 – What are you waiting for!

If you like nice wines, you will be impressed by the great selection on offer at the Forge. There is something for everyone whether it’s a smooth Merlot or a crisp elegant dry Chablis, you are sure to find something to suit those taste buds at the Forge and at affordable prices.

Not forgetting you gentleman who may like to try one of the many traditional cask ales, the Forge has one of the best selections in the county to offer its customers.

The staff could not do enough to make my dining experience as enjoyable and as memorable as it possibly could be. They were attentive without being over the top and as busy as the restaurant was on the day of my visit, there was always someone not too far away to service my every need.

So, if you’re looking for quality food at reasonable prices in a great village pub with staff who know the true meaning of great customer service, why not visit Sam and his team at The Forge Inn. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
