An X-Factor homecoming for Leicester’s Sam Bailey plus some of the biggest names in soul, urban, reggae, pop and R’n’B have today been announced for the first ever Leicester Music Festival (LMF).

The two day festival, which is expected to draw a crowd of 44,000 and promises entertainment that the whole family will enjoy, will take place on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th July 2014.

More Artists To Be Announced For Inaugural Leicester Music Festival
Friday’s line-up comprises internation-ally-acclaimed ‘Just be good to green’ rapper Professor Green and urban songstress Katy B. Joining them on the festival’s first day will be renowned singer-songwriter Billy Ocean, reggae group Aswad and double-Grammy award winners Soul II Soul featuring Jazzie B OBE. Dance sensation Diversity will also be performing on both days of the concert and more acts for the Friday festival will be announced in March.

Joining Diversity on Saturday, is MOBO award-winner Labrinth, X-factor boy band Union J and pop favourites The Saturdays. LMF’s Saturday crowd will also see an exclusive performance from X-factor winner Sam Bailey as she gives her only planned Leicester performance of the year. Soul chart toppers The Real Thing and Asian pop band Stereo Nation plus one additional ‘yet to be named’ act, complete the line-up.

Manoj Keshavji co-founder of the Leicester Music Festival said: “Our aim was for LMF to put Leicester on the map for music and with this line up we think we’ve hit the right note. The people of Leicester are tired of having to the leave the city to watch big acts perform, so this summer we’re bringing an eclectic mix of artists spanning years of stardom and complimentary genres which the whole family can enjoy.”

Promising to be an event the city can be proud of, a number of local businesses have already pledged to back the festival including Hilton Leicester, Sturgess Group, the Leicester Tigers and the Wishes for Kids charity.

Tickets are on sale now priced from £45 per person per day and can be purchased from
www.theticketfactory.com, www.skiddle.com and in person at Visit Leicester (on Gallowtree Gate)
and the Leicester Tigers’ ticket office.
