Fields of Dreams, Pt. 3

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Within a blink of an eye I am again writing about Nick Leatherland (ex PGA professional) and his families amazing achievements in creating Kyngs Golf. For those unaware of this remarkable ongoing story, read our previous write ups starting in 2010 at www.countryside-lavie.com. Nick’s lifetime ambition in constructing one of Leicestershires premier golf courses based in Market Bosworth.

Through hard work and sheer determination this achievement has nearly reached fruition. From the humble beginnings with diggers and all hands to the pump it’s nearing completion, and we have been with him all the way since conception. Don't get me wrong it's a 'new' course in relative terms, to those more 'established', but trust me in a few more years of maturing this course will be phenomenal!

Every golfer I've encountered from Pro's to Ryder cup players and the general public enthuse about this course and the general consensus is that every time you play it's different, with variations on hole, and is very demanding.

Nick has played courses worldwide and has taken his knowledge and experience and ploughed it into Kyngs golf. Replicating some of the most challenging holes to be found worldwide, from Palm Springs, The Belfry and St Andrews. This is a 'Thinking mans course' and can be quite testing - but who doesn't relish a challenge? Kyngs has to be in the running to host a County (if not nationwide) golf event, this is a par 70, 6,730 yard 18 hole golf course plus, a 9 hole par 3 course. With streams, ponds, and lakes, attention to detail and tricky bunkers to navigate you will never tire of playing.

Fields of Dreams, Pt. 3We have the utmost admiration for Nick and his family who have overcome great adversity starting this project before the recession hit, with planning and financial problems along the way this has not come without its casualties.

With great sadness Nick's son Mark Memberships are continuing to rise for passed away recently, a memorial has been erected in his honour on the course, in tribute to the massive part he played in the planning in the early stages helping to construct one of Leicestershire's top courses. Rest assured he will be looking down on your enjoyment playing, and appreciating the fruits of his labour from teeing off to the '19th' hole!

Consent has been granted to build the 1.5 million pound club house which shall offer verandas and patios overlooking the course which will feature a Toning and Relaxation suite, a Virtual Reality indoor golf clinic, Luxurious lounge, bar and catering facilities. Also a Reception and Management area, Changing rooms, Pro-Shop and a Caddy Masters office that will oversee Start times. You think that's impressive? Nick is forward thinking he's already got a heliport and next door is a landing strip!! Golfers play world wide, so a trip to Market Bosworth will be a doddle!

both women, men and families, but as always, more are welcome. You do not have to be a member to play, treat yourself to a one day pass? Or take up one of their introductory offers? Nick wants you to come and play the course, give him a call, your feedback is always welcome.

After a round, explore the beautiful nearby market town of Market Bosworth with many boutiques and restaurants, maybe visit the nearby marina or pop into the Richard III visitor attraction.

After dedicating over 15 years of his life to this 'dream' Nick and his family are very proud of their achievements and credit to them all. Kyngs Golf is a real asset to the community. Is there going to be a part 4? You can count on it!

- Dreams can come true!
