A new life for the family- home of Rene Lalique, founder of French luxury crystal house, Lalique
The dining room designed by Mario Botta – a rectangle of glass on local red Vosges sandstone overlooks six acres of parkland 22 October 2015: Just launched, Villa LALIQUE is an ultra- sophisticated gourmet restaurant and hotel, a showcase for Lalique’s craftsmanship and flair, set in the former family home of founder, René Lalique in Alsace. A tribute to the French Art de Vivre, Villa LALIQUE offers six exclusive suites, a three star Michelin star Chef in the restaurant designed by Mario Botta, one of Europe’s finest wine cellars and a Head Sommelier re- cently decorated as the ‘Meilleur Sommelier de France’.
Less than an hour from Strasbourg airport, the Villa is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty – the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park close to the LALIQUE museum and fac- tory in Wingen-sur-Moder. The six suites have been designed by Lady Tina Green and Pietro Mingarelli - interior designers specialising in yachts who have been working together for 14 years - who have preserved the atmosphere and authenticity of the family home. Each piece of furniture from the ‘Lalique mai- son’ collection is bespoke and in the purest Art Deco style.
The restaurant and wine cellar – one of Europe’s finest - de- signed by Swiss Architect Mario Botta, provide a modern yet sympathetic and dramatic addition to the early 20 Century home.
Silvio Denz, Chairman and CEO of Lalique has sourced the finest talent from the region and Chef Jean-Georges Klein, pre- viously from three star Arnsbourg restaurant in Lorraine has cre- ated a colourful cuisine for four seasons and working with Head Sommelier, Romain Iltis has drawn a menu to finalise the matches between dishes and wines.
Holding more than 20,000 bottles, including exquisite wines such as vintage Yquem dated 1865, the cellar displays cases of wine in display cases in a church like space with local Alsatian wines taking pride of place on the list and collected direct from the wine grower. One thousand of the Villa LALIQUE wines have received scores of 90-100 from wine critic, Robert Parker and more than 100 reached the highest score: 100 points.
The perfect destination for nature lovers, culture, gastronomy and wine, getting to the villa is easy – Strasbourg is under an hour’s drive or 35 minutes by train. There is a heliport in the villa grounds.
