Natural Cleaning Tips

Fabric Softner 

5 1⁄2 cups water
15 oz bottle of your favorite hair conditioner
2.5 cups white vinegar
20 drops of essential oil for fragrance (optional) 

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Pour into an empty storage container (such as empty fabric softner container). 

Use approximately 1⁄4 cup per normal washload prior to the rinse cycle. 

Lime Scale on Bathroom Fixtures 

To remove lime scale from bathroom fixtures, squeeze lemon juice on the affected areas and let it sit for several minutes before wiping clean. 

Shower Heads 

Fill a plastic bag with white vinegar and then tie the bag around the shower head so that the shower head is immersed in the vinegar. Leave on for up to 12 hours and remove carefully. Pour it down the drain and your shower head should be clean and free of hard water residue. 

Brass/Bronze 

Polish with a soft cloth dipped in a lemon and baking soda solution or vinegar and salt. Or try a dab of ketchup on a soft cloth on tarnished areas. 

Chrome 

Polish with baby oil and vinegar or tin foil (shiny side out). over tarnished areas. 

Gold 

Clean with non abrasive toothpaste or a paste of salt, vinegar and flour. 

Silver 

Line a pan with aluminum foil and fill with water - add a teaspoon of baking soda and salt. Bring to the boil and immerse Silver, remove and polish with a soft cloth. 

Glass/Mirror Cleaner 

2 cups water
1/2 cup white or cider vinegar
1/4 cup rubbing alcohol (70% concentration)
1 to 2 drops of orange essential oil, which gives the solution a lovely smell (optional) 

Combine ingredients and store in a spray bottle. Spray on a paper towel or soft cloth first, then on the glass.
Hint: Don't clean windows on a hot, sunny day because the solution will dry too quickly and leave lots of streaks.
