24 – 25 Oct: Pumpkin Weekend, RHS Garden Rosemoor

Visitors can carve a pumpkin at lantern-making workshops, take the Pumpkin Trail around the garden and learn how to cook delicious pumpkin-based dishes. rhs.org.uk/rosemoor


6 Nov: FREE Day Friday – Open Day, all gardens

An opportunity to visit the four RHS Gardens for free and enjoy them as they bed down for winter. rhs.org.uk/gardenwhatson

10 - 30 Nov: Christmas Crafts and Design Fairs/Shopping Evenings, all gardens (dates vary)

1 Dec: Holly Trail Launch, RHS Garden Rosemoor

A talk on Rosemoor’s holly collection by former curator Christopher Bailes, to launch the new Holly Trail, followed by a chance to explore the new trail. A National Plant Collection of hollies (Ilex) is held at RHS Garden Rosemoor and the self-guided trail gives visitors the chance to see some of the 150 varieties of holly in the collection. www.rhs.org.uk/rosemoor

4 - 24 Dec: The Magic of Christmas, RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Fridays to Sundays
Over three weekends in December, families can enjoy a magical series of events for children including the chance to decorate a gingerbread man, and write and post a letter to Santa. Children can also meet Santa and hear a classic Christmas tale. Friday storytelling sessions are aimed especially at toddlers. www.rhs.org.uk/harlowcarr

4 - 6 Dec: The Magic of Christmas, RHS Garden Hyde Hall

Santa will be making a special stop-off at the garden and there is the chance to listen to a special Christmas story that’s never been told before. The fun continues with a glitter-and-glue arts and craft workshop. Booking essential. www.rhs.org.uk/hydehall

3 Dec - 3 Jan: Christmas Glow at Wisley, RHS Garden Wisley

RHS Ambassador and author Mary Berry will be switching on the Wisley Christmas lights at 5.30pm on 2 Dec. Visitors can enjoy the atmosphere of the festive season with the Jigantics unique light installation around the garden, which blooms with magical giant illuminated flowers. The garden opens until 5pm, last entry 4pm. www.rhs.org.uk/wisley

5 Dec - 4 Jan: Christmas display in The Glasshouse, RHS Garden Wisley
The garden’s Glasshouse is transformed into something magical at Christmas, with hundreds of plants specially grown by the team. Poinsettias will be used to create a large Christmas tree, pillars are adorned with beautiful orchids, and the ceiling is festooned with hanging-moss ropes made of soft Tillandsia. rhs.org.uk/wisley

6 Dec: Christmas Food Fair, RHS Garden Rosemoor

Rosemoor will be laden with festive treats, with the very best of local produce including cheese, meats, fish, wine, cider, pastries, puddings, jams and much more. It offers the perfect place to stock up on gastronomic goodies in the run-up to Christmas. www.rhs.org.uk/rosemoor

12 Dec – 4 Jan: Decorated Christmas Trees Competition, RHS Garden Rosemoor
Visitors can show off their skills in decorating a Christmas tree using only natural materials. The All2Knit’s giant Knitted Christmas Tree will be on display, back by popular demand. Space is limited, registering early is recommended. www.rhs.org.uk/rosemoor
