The first British civilians to fight in the First World War were a group of 50 men, dubbed The Famous 50. They were mostly miners, from the North West Leicestershire town of Coalville. Leicester Riders, Britain’s oldest basketball team was founded in 1967.
The new academic year at the King Richard III Visitor Centre has got underway with some great news for the learning team at the award-winning city centre attraction. Following two detailed assessments earlier in the year, the Visitor Centre has received a Sandford Award for Heritage Education.
