The Lord Mayor Needs Your Help To Fund The Children’s Holiday Centre, Mablethorpe
Councillor Corrall stood for election in New Parks in 2003 and was elected and served for 12 years. Following recent boundary changes, he became Ward Councillor for Braunstone Park and Rowley Fields in May 2015.
He is currently the Armed Forces Champion for the City and represents the Council as member of the East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association. He is continuing these important roles during his year as Lord Mayor. The armed forces, its personnel and their families are very close to his heart.
The Lord Mayor is supporting Leicester Children’s Holiday Centre (Mablethorpe) during his year in office. The Centre has been in existence for 118 years and offers a unique service to young disadvantaged children from Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, providing free seaside holidays to Mablethorpe. An experience many would never have without the valuable work of the charity and the dedication of its volunteers.
The Lord Mayor himself went to Mablethorpe as a child and completely understands the benefits that this opportunity gave him. He said “it definitely left a lasting impression...”.
Over the years, more than 55,000 children have benefitted from the Charity’s work and most remember their time at the Centre as a magical interlude in an often grim childhood.
The Charity does not receive statutory funding and relies on donations, appeals and legacies. Without the generous support of the people of Leicester and Leicestershire the Charity would be unable to continue their work.
